'Avengers 4' Trailer Leak Teases a Moody Reunion, November Release Date

The next 'Avengers' movie will be dark AF if this leak is right.

Avengers: Infinity War ended on a seriously dark note, but according to the latest rumors Avengers 4 could be even darker. A new leak from VK (basically Russian Facebook) claims to reveal the movie’s official title, along with when the first trailer will drop, and, perhaps most importantly, the song allegedly featured in that upcoming trailer.

Is this Russian leak legit?

VK

There’s a lot to unpack here but first lets address that giant Avengers 4 poster, which appears to show Iron Man wielding the rumored proton cannon that made the rounds online earlier this month. First of all, that image comes from noted artist and superhero fan Boss Logic, who’s put out a steady stream of awesome concept art for years. So no, it’s not a real poster. And second, we already debunked the proton cannon, which is totally unfeasible according to a real-life nuclear physicist.

Ok, so back to the actual leak, which is actually three Avengers 4 spoilers in one. It’s worth noting that fake Russian Facebook isn’t the most reliable source of information, but there’s some interesting info here that’s worth tackling. So let’s go through these details one at a time. (Right after this related video.)

Avengers 4 trailer release date

According to this leaker, the first Avengers 4 trailer could come as soon as November. So, sometime next month. That pretty much lines up with a recent statement from Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige, who revealed that the trailer would drop before the end of the year.

Of course, it’s possible Marvel could make us wait until December. But with just two months to go until the new year there’s basically a 50/50 chance we’ll see a trailer arrive in November.

Avengers 4 title confirmed?

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard speculation that Avengers 4 could actually be called Avengers: Annihilation. It’s a popular theory which fits nicely with Infinity War’s deadly ending. It also complies with the Russo Brothers’ claim that the new title was never spoken in the previous film since the word “annihilation” actually pops up in Age of Ultron but never in Infinity War.

Finally, that title could hint at an even bigger bad than Thanos for Avengers 4: Annihilus, which would line up with some earlier leaks teasing a “greater” threat than the Mad Titan.

Avengers 4 music teases a dark sequel

Finally, let’s talk about that song. “Dust and Light” was previously featured in The Hobbit soundtrack and it’s extremely dire. If that’s the backing track for theAvengers 4 trailer then you can probably assume that this new movie won’t exactly pick up from an uplifting place.

That shouldn’t come as a surprise considering that half the universe (and half the Avengers) got turned to dust by Thanos at the end of Infinity War, but it also casts doubt on one rumor that the new movie could begin five years after the Snap.

Based on this song, you can pretty much assume that Avengers 4 will take place at the lowest point in MCU history, moments after the credits rolled on Infinity War.

Avengers 4 hits theaters on May 3, 2019.
