In a partnership with HTC, gaming powerhouse company Valve released the Vive Virtual Reality system in April 2016, and Samsung has designed its most recent mobile phones all to work with their Gear virtual reality system. The future of information and gaming consumption appears so geared toward the virtual that legacy media companies like the *New York Times* are hopping on board.
