'Daredevil' Season 3 Spoilers: Leak Suggests Iconic Villain for New Season

by Corey Plante

A behind-the-scenes photo has seemingly confirmed that the villain of Daredevil Season 3 on Netflix will be Bullseye, the iconic Marvel baddie that so often comes up against the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen.

Earlier this month Liz Vastola, a costume designer for both Jessica Jones and Daredevil, shared an image via her Instagram account of what looked like Daredevil-themed swag gifted to the Costume Department. Production on Season 3 had just wrapped, and the black jackets featured the official title logo for the show with “Season 3” on the top-right and “Costume Department” underneath the main logo. But over on the left side was a huge, conspicuous black-and-white bullseye.

Vastola’s post has since been deleted from Instagram, which could prove what most fans have now assumed to be true: Bullseye will have a major villainous role to play in Daredevil Season 3. But again, that’s just an assumption based on one photo of a jacket with no official word just yet. Even then, Bullseye would make a lot of sense.

Not much is known so far about Daredevil Season 3 so far. At the end of The Defenders, Matt Murdock was presumed dead after a ton of earth and rocks buried him alive with enemy-but-also-lover Elektra. But then the post-credits scene teased that Matt survived and was convalescing at some convent. Somebody name-drops “Maggie,” which we’re led to believe refers to Matt’s mother who in the comics is named Maggie.

So far, it looks like Season 3 might borrow from Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli’s “Born Again,” storyline in Marvel comics. In it, Kingpin learns Daredevil’s true identity and uses that to destroy his life. It’s entirely possible that in Season 3, Fisk does learn the truth and then employs Bullseye to target everyone important to Matt. Either way, with The Hand dismantled (or dismembered?) after The Defenders, it’s time for Daredevil to get a new full-time task, which might just be a new war against Fisk.

Some fans might remember that Colin Farrell played a version of Bullseye in the poorly-received 2003 Daredevil movie starring Ben Affleck as Matt Murdock. If we do get a new Bullseye in Season 3 of the Netflix show, chances are high that he’ll be nothing like Farrell’s version.

Daredevil Season 3 is expected for release sometime in late 2018.
