Dark Phoenix has nothing after the main film wraps and the credits start rolling. There are no mid-credits sequences or post-credits teasers of any kind, so once the credits start rolling, that’s it.

For anyone unmoved by Hans Zimmer’s excellent score who also don’t want to sit through the credits, feel free to leave if that’s your thing. Dark Phoenix brought closure to 20 years worth of X-Men movies in a way that plenty of fans might take issue with, establishing an unprecedented new direction for the franchise that feels hopeful and refreshed.

Will Marvel Studios pick up with these characters in a few years time after the Disney-Fox merger? Dark Phoenix leaves the ending open for the possibility, but even if that doesn’t happen, the ending is good enough to satisfy — with or without a needless post-credits scene.

Dark Phoenix will be released in theaters Friday, June 7.
