‘Forever’ Season 2 Release Date: Creator and Stars Discuss the Possibility

In a television landscape full of zingy sitcoms and epic sagas, Forever is a bit of a sleeper hit. The Amazon original, starring Fred Armisen and Maya Rudolph as a married couple facing some unexpected new challenges isn’t the laugh riot those two names might suggest, but it’s funny enough to hold your attention and compelling enough that I binged the entire thing in a single weekend (it’s also got a cool supernatural twist). If you’re anything like me you’re probably wondering when and if a Forever Season 2 release date will arrive. Here’s what you need to know.

Will we get a Forever Season 2 release date?

Short answer: Maybe.

Different people have offered different answers to the question in various interviews, so the entire possibility of a second season is pretty murky. But we definitely wouldn’t rule it out entirely either.

In an interview with The New York Times back in August, Maya Rudolph made it seem like the chances for a Season 2 were pretty slim. She basically says that what drew her (and her co-star Fred Armisen) to Forever was the knowledge that it would end after one season. So there’s no guarantee that either actor will stick around for more.

“That was a huge light bulb for Fred and myself,” she said. “We both said, ‘Yes, that’s what we want.’ ”

However, a September article in Vanity Fair definitely makes it sound like Forever Season 2 is still possible. The story, a profile of series co-creator Alan Yang (best known for Master of None), reveals that “Yang is leaving the door open for another season.” However, it all depends on whether the show can “find its audience.”

So if you really want to see more episodes of Forever your best bet may be to convince your friends to start watching. Maybe then we’ll get a Season 2 of this quirky dramedy series starring two of the funniest comedians around.
