Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the movie all your friends are complaining about on Twitter, took a box-office nose dive of 68 percent in its second weekend — down to about $58 million. The final numbers aren’t in yet, but it seems like the negative press surrounding the movie’s release it catching up with it in a big way.

The DC behemoth, helmed by director Zack Snyder, took a heavy beating from critics and earned a dismal 41-percent rating from Rotten Tomatoes. Our condolences if you coughed up the $17 to see it at IMAX. Filmmakers didn’t even have the decency to give us the Jena Malone screen time we were promised.

The drop is one of the biggest ever recorded for a marquee superhero title, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice also tanked in China, bringing in $20 million less than originally predicted, in case anyone thought standards of entertainment were laxer abroad.

The ridiculously over-the-top product placement didn’t help matters.

Better luck next time, DC.
