'Dragon Prince' Season 3 trailer reveals an exciting new character
The Dragon Prince Season 3 release date is just a few weeks away, but we’ve already been transported to the magical realm of Xadia thanks to a thrilling new trailer for the Netflix fantasy series. Debuting on Saturday, the new trailer and accompanying poster show off a majestic dragon we haven’t seen before, but we’re much more excited about the reveal of another new character coming in Dragon Prince Season 3: Elf Callum.
As this image should make clear, “Elf Callum” isn’t an actual elven counterpart to one of the show’s main characters. It’s just Callum in disguise as he, Rayla, and Zym (the dragon prince himself) enter Xadia to bring the infant dragon back home and avoid a war between humanity and the magical world. Of course, Elf Callum is also a play on the fan-favorite “Human Rayla” joke from previous seasons, introduced whenever the Moonshadow elf character had to disguise herself while traveling through the human world.
In July at San Diego Comic Con, the creative minds behind The Dragon Prince confirmed that Elf Callum was coming in Season 3, and now that we’ve seen him… well, it’s pretty much exactly what I imagined.
Here’s another shot of Elf Callum from the Dragon Prince Season 3 trailer.
He seems to be carrying out some sort of spell with Rayla. Hopefully, that means we’ll get more of Elf Callum beyond one single joke.
The Dragon Prince Season 3 is still a pretty big mystery — Aaravos is notably absent from the trailer after playing a key role in Season 2 — but we do see what looks like a pretty epic battle scene, some new magical creatures, and a very evil-looking Viren who’s apparently been freed after he was arrested for treason at the end of Season 2.
You’ll have to wait a few more week to find out what happens, but in the meantime, here’s the official synopsis for The Dragon Prince Season 3:
The new season opens as Callum and Rayla finally enter the magical land of Xadia, and begin the last and most dangerous leg of their journey to reunite Zym with his mother, The Dragon Queen. Meanwhile, Ezran returns to the kingdom of Katolis to take his place on the throne, only to be immediately pressured to go to war with Xadia. Lord Viren, who is imprisoned and desperate, begins to realize the power of his new ally – the mysterious Startouch elf, Aaravos.
In season three the series will reach its most epic heights yet. We will discover the wonders of Xadia, encounter heroes, old and new, and learn some previously untold history about how Zym ended up on this epic journey. Season three will introduce new iconic characters – good, evil, and of course layered and complicated. Long-held beliefs will be challenged, new magic will lead to incredible powers, and a momentous battle will be waged in the name of finally stopping a centuries-old conflict that has affected generations.
The Dragon Prince Season 3 hits Netflix on November 22.
