'Fortnite' Hot Spot Locations: How to Find Them for Smash & Grab Challenges

If you're already familiar with Hot Spots, these tasks should be pretty easy.

The latest mission set of challenges to hit Fortnite: Battle Royale Season X in Week 4 is “Smash & Grab.” Released Thursday, these seven challenges all focus on smashing (dealing damage) and grabbing (looting things), the fundamental parts of the Fortnite experience. They’re not particularly exciting, but two of the standard Smash & Grab challenges involve Hot Spots, along with their two prestige counterparts. That’s four total challenges, all relying on the player finding Hot Spots at the start of the match and doing things there.

Here’s everything players will need to do at Hot Spots for Smash & Grab:

  • Land at a Hot Spot in different matches (0/3)
  • Deal damage to opponents at Hot Spots (0/200)
  • Destroy Loot Carriers within 60 seconds after landing from the Battle Bus
  • Eliminate an opponent at a Hot Spot (0/3)

The third and fourth of these challenges are Prestige, meaning that players will have to complete all seven of the main Smash & Grab challenges before the Prestige versions are made available. In the standard set, players will also have to “search a chest within 60 seconds after landing from the Battle Bus” and “pick up a Legendary Item in different matches (0/3),” among a few others, but these two are also totally possible at a Hot Spot. So keep that in mind on your journey.

How and where can players find Hot Spots?

There's no way to predict where a Hot Spot will be, but they're easy to see on the map. Look for the gold lettering replacing the regular font at named locations.

Epic Games

At the start of a match, one or two Hot Spots will have gold lettering on the map that will replace the standard font of a named location.

Added to Fortnite as part of the version 9.10 update in May during Season 9, Hot Spots are an exciting and competitive way to earn excellent weapons early in a match, but for this very reason, they’re always “hot spots” for players to land. At each Hot Spot, a bunch of Loot Carrier drones will flutter around, and they carry really good loot. All players have to do is get any kind of weapon from the ground or chest nearby and use that to destroy the drones.

The individual challenges should be easy and straightforward for everyone once they find the Hot Spot in their match.

Like “Spray & Play” and “Worlds Collide” mission sets, among others, Smash & Grab will be active until the end of Season X, so players have plenty of time to complete these challenges.

Fortnite: Battle Royale Season X should end on or around October 5, 2019.
