'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' Season 3 Release Date, Cast, and More

Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina in 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' Season 2 on Netflix

Praise Satan because Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will be coming back for Season 3 and, even better, Season 4 is happening, too. To be fair, the announcement of CAOS’ two-season renewal has been out since December 2018, but we’re guessing you forgot about that fun fact when Season 2 dropped on Netflix on April 5.

CAOS Season 2 was pretty damn eventful, to put it mildly. In a season that, thematically, focused on tearing down the patriarchy and letting women step into their full power, CAOS saw Sabrina growing into her powers as a witch while learning more about her past. Over the course of the season’s 9 episodes, we watched as she struggled with her desire to assimilate into the witch community and do the Dark Lord’s bidding. And, when she wasn’t tied up taking down demons or casting spells, Sabrina was trying to find time to be there for her human friends Ros, Harvey, and Theo. Things got complicated very quickly for Ms. Spellman and Season 2 left us with so many questions and curiosities that we’re ready for Season 3 to address.

Here’s what you can expect when CAOS returns for Season 3.

What Is the Release Date for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 3?

There’s no release date for CAOS Season 3, but it’s worth noting that filming on Seasons 3 and 4 will echo the schedule for Seasons 1 and 2. Production will resume in Vancouver on April 28 (thanks for the tip, Screen Rant) and that the cast and crew will keep working through the fall of 2019 on Season 4 once filming on Season 3 wraps. This is similar to filming for Season 1 and 2, which began filming in March 2018.

If the production schedule does, in fact, echo Seasons 1 and 2 here, then Season 3 could finish filming in the summer with a possible release date in late October 2019, much like Season 1’s late October premiere date. Similarly, Season 4 could arrive in spring 2020, just as Season 2 arrived in early April.

Is There a Trailer for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 3?

There’s no trailer yet for Season 3 yet. Even though the CAOS crew will be working on two seasons in a row, it’s not entirely out of the question for a Season 3 trailer to drop in the summer once filming wraps. We’ll keep you posted.

How Many Episodes Will Season 3 Have?

If IMDb is correct, Season 3 will have a smaller episode count than previous seasons. Season 1 came in at 10 episodes, Season 2 had 9 and now, it looks like Season 3 will only have 8.

It’s unclear right now if CAOS will do anything in the way of special, one-off episodes like it’s Christmas-themed episode “A Midwinter’s Tale.” We’re kinda hoping they do opt in for some special, season one-offs because eight episodes doesn’t feel like enough time to answer all of the questions we have and all of the things we want to see from Sabrina and the gang.

Who’s Coming Back for the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 3 Cast?

Although no official casting announcement have been made, it stands to reason that many of our faves will be back for Season 3. Key cast members Kiernan Shipka (Sabrina), Chance Perdomo (Ambrose), Mirando Otto (Aunt Zelda), Lucy Davis (Aunt Hilda), Ross Lynch (Harvey), Jaz Sinclair (Ros), and Lachlan Watson (Theo) will definitely be back.

Additionally, given where we left off in Season 2 (more on that below), we’re guessing that supporting cast members Michelle Gomez (Lillith/Miss Wardwell), Tati Gabrielle (Prudence), Abigail Cowen (Dorcas), Adeline Rudolph (Agatha), Gavin Leatherwood (Nicholas Scratch), and Richard Coyle (Father Blackwood) will also be returning for more devilishly good fun.

What Do I Need to Remember About Season 2 Before Sabrina Season 3 Premieres?

In case you didn’t see it the first time around, this is your second spoiler warning for CAOS Season 2

By the time the credits rolled on the final episode of Season 2, lots of bombshells had been dropped and lots of new beginnings were being teased.

The biggest revelation was that Sabrina is the product of an unholy trinity between a human (her mom, Diana), a warlock (her dad, Edward), and the Devil. While the Devil had planned for her to provoke the apocalypse and then join him in ruling over hell, Sabrina had other plans. With the help of her friends, family, and Lillith, Sabrina was able to weaken the Devil and, thank to her new boyfriend Nicholas Scratch, trap the Devil in Nicholas’ body before Ambrose put him in a sleeping spell. Lillith then took over as Queen of Hell, taking Nicholas/The Devil with her.

Not exactly thrilled at the idea of losing her boyfriend to the depths of hell, Sabrina proposed to Ros, Harvey, and Theo that they all band together to go to Hell and get Nicholas back. This will undoubtedly be the focus of at least one episode in Season 3 — and we can’t wait to see how it plays out.

Meanwhile, the Church of Night has fallen. After attempting to impose new, regressive rules and failing to do so, Father Blackwood fled Greendale, but not before poisoning church members during a ceremony. Zelda and Hilda were able to save some of those members, including Weird Sisters Dorcas and Agatha, and have rebranded as the Church of Lillith, with Zelda taking over as High Priestess (a role she’s always wanted). There will no doubt be some drama around starting a new church, so we’ll more than likely see Zelda and Hilda dealing with their new roles next season.

Not content to let Father Blackwood just disappear, Ambrose and Prudence have united in their hatred for the way Blackwood has treated them and are now hunting him down. Expect to see more of their quest in Season 3.
