'Umbrella Academy' Season 2 Cast May Reveal Some Big Plot Spoilers

When announcing The Umbrella Academy Season 2 renewal, Netflix also shared a list of returning cast members. This may have inadvertently revealed some big spoilers about what to expect from the plot following that Season 1 finale cliffhanger.

Spoilers for The Umbrella Academy Season 1 and possibly Season 2 below.

Here’s a quick rundown of the confirmed cast. Ellen Page (Vanya), Tom Hopper (Luther), David Castañeda (Diego), Emmy Raver-Lampman (Allison), Robert Sheehan (Klaus), Aidan Gallagher (Number Five), and Justin Min (Ben) are all reprising their roles in Season 2. Netflix will announce additional casting news at a later date.

In Season 1, Number Five tried to prevent the end of the world, only for the Hargreeves siblings to discover their sister, Vanya, who they thought didn’t have powers, was the cause. The world still ended, but Number Five decided to travel through time, taking his siblings with him, to try to fix it. As he used his powers, his siblings turned into their younger selves, much like he had when he traveled back to his family in the present at the beginning of the season.

But the news that the actors who play the adult versions of the siblings will return suggests they may be back to their adult selves when they land wherever and whenever Number Five takes them. Even if they do stay young, it likely won’t last too long into The Umbrella Academy Season 2.

That also means that Umbrella Academy star Cameron Britton’s theory about Ben in Season 2 probably won’t pan out. In an earlier interview with Inverse, the actor (who plays Hazel) wondered if a younger version of Ben would mean a return to his physical body.

“I can’t wait to see what happens to them now that they’ve all jumped,” Britton said. “If Ben’s going to become a corporal being again, that’d be cool.”

Will we see Cha-Cha and Hazel in 'The Umbrella Academy' Season 2?

Netflix

Speaking of Hazel and his partner Cha-Cha, The Hollywood Reporter notes that Mary J. Blige, who played Cha-Cha in Season 2, had only signed on for one season. That means it’s possible (and likely) that the image of Cha-Cha dying as the world ended may be the last we see of her. It may also mean that if she does return, to show a changed future, it may be in a limited capacity.

Cameron Britton’s future on the show is unknown as well, so we don’t know if we’ll see Hazel again or not. He was leaving behind his old life with his girlfriend, Agnes, at the end of Season 1. “He would definitely want to go to a simple time,” Britton told Inverse.

We may or may not find out if Hazel got his wish.

The Umbrella Academy Season 1 is now streaming on Netflix.
