'Avengers: Endgame' Spoilers: Character Posters Reveal 3 Surviving Heroes

Captain America, Black Widow, and the rest of the surviving Avengers look absolutely miserable in all of the trailers for Avengers: Endgame so far, but we just got confirmation of a few more heroes who survived. We weren’t positive until now, but it looks like Wong, Happy Hogan, and Valkyrie all survived Thanos’ Decimation. We also regret to inform you that Shuri did not.

We know all this thanks to a bunch of Avengers: Endgame character posters released Tuesday featuring the many characters, dead or alive. Similar to what we’ve seen in previous trailers, all of the deceased characters as depicted in black and white, with only the survivors displayed in color. In most cases, the actors behind each character shared the image. Tom Hiddleston, for instance, tweeted a black-and-white poster for Loki. Brie Larson shared a similar, full-color poster of Carol Danvers.

Inverse is posing a few theories of its own with Inverse String Theory ahead of the premiere of Avengers: Endgame.

In each case, the perspective is tightly cropped on the character’s head with the phrase “Avenge the Fallen” (with the Avengers “A” in “Fallen”). This tagline might support recent fan theories and supposed leaks (potential spoilers here) that the survivors track down and kill Thanos very early in the movie.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the most important Avengers: Endgame character posters released today.

Iron Man leads the pack.

Iron Man’s new BFF, Nebula, has perhaps the coolest-looking poster of all.

Some of these posters confirm my previous theory that based on the credits in the first big Avengers: Endgame poster, characters like Happy Hogan, Pepper Potts, and Wong survived Thanos’ Snap.

Here’s Happy in full coloration.

We all love Happy Hogan, but he's not going to do much in the fight against Thanos.

Marvel Studios

There’s another color poster for Wong. Late last week, actor Benedict Wong low-key confirmed during a Reddit AMA that Wong survived and was currently guarding the Sanctum Sanctorum.

With Doctor Strange turned to dust, it makes sense that Wong would survive as one of the few Masters of the Mystic Arts.

Marvel Studios

Pepper Potts also seemingly survived the Snap.

This one isn't surprising at all.

Marvel Studios

A new poster for Valkyrie offers further confirmation that she survived Thanos’ Snap as well. She was MIA at the start of Avengers: Infinity War, and it was later confirmed that she led Asgardian survivors to safety during Thanos’ attack.

Valkyrie getting a full-color poster could be the biggest surprise of all.

Marvel Studios

Among the black-and-white posters for everyone who died, there’s one for Shuri. Despite Angela Bassett claiming that Shuri survived, it looks like she died. (This was previously teased in the very first Endgame trailer.)

Shuri didn't survive 'Avengers: Infinity War' after all.

Marvel Studios

With these posters, Marvel is offering something of an in-joke. Among the 32 total posters, 16 of them feature deceased characters in black and white. Thanos might say this marketing promotion is “perfectly balanced, as all things should be.”

More importantly, however, where are the Avengers: Endgame tickets!?

Avengers: Endgame will be released in theaters on April 26, 2019.
