'Legacies' Spoilers: New Theory Connects Landon, Seylah, and the Knife

The mystery of who or what Landon Kirby is continues on Legacies after Hope tested him in the last episode and came up empty. However, guidance counselor Emma Tig found it very odd that there wasn’t any magic in his bloodline, and that’s sparked a new theory that could explain those tests results.

In “Malivore,” Hope tested Landon for supernatural abilities (like super-strength) but found nothing. She also ran a lineage spell and found “zero magic in his bloodline.” Rather than potentially rule out that he’s supernatural, Emma offered another possible explanation.

“Most humans have some trace of magical blood in their veins from a far-flung ancestor,” she told Hope.

Meanwhile, Alaric and Dorian were off dealing with the latest creature, a dryad who was instructed by a voice in her head to bring the knife to a dark pit below the earth known as Malivore. Then, at the end of the episode, we saw Landon with a photo of his mother holding him as a baby where she was wearing a necklace with the Malivore symbol on it.

So what’s the connection? Redditor u/emeraldxo has a theory to explain both the necklace and the result of the lineage test Hope ran on Landon.

“I think Landon’s mom is the gate keeper for this void,” they write. “The magic in their line was diverted to powering this void and that’s why there’s no trace in his blood.”

It does seem that Landon’s family is somehow connected to Malivore, whether his mother is the “gatekeeper” or perhaps even an ancestor of his could have created it.

What drew Landon (Aria Shahghasemi) to the knife on 'Legacies'?

The CW

Throughout Legacies’ first five episodes, we’ve wondered what Landon is. Episode 5 was really only the beginning of looking into his biological parents. He doesn’t know where he was born, and only knows his mother’s name: Seylah.

Redditor u/Mvtt25 even suggests that “Landon’s father is one of the monsters” who was in the void, pointing to the dryad’s connection to the human (turned vampire) in episode 5.

If this is true, could it explain why Landon is attracted to the knife (and vice versa)? Could his father’s side be drawing him to the knife just like those other supernatural creatures have been?

Legacies airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on The CW.
