'Game of Thrones' Star Maisie Williams Joins Rooster Teeth's 'gen:LOCK'

A girl has a name in gen:LOCK — and her name is Cammie MacCloud.

Actress Maisie Williams, best known for her role as Arya Stark on the HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones, has joined the cast of Rooster Teeth’s gen:LOCK, a new sci-fi animated series also starring Michael B. Jordan, David Tennant, and Dakota Fanning. The series is set to premiere in 2019.

On Saturday at RTX London, Rooster Teeth Head of Animation Gray G. Haddock announced the addition of Maisie Williams to the cast of gen:LOCK. Haddock also revealed Williams’ role as “Cammie MacCloud,” a mischievous hacker and the youngest recruit in the mysterious “gen:LOCK” program.

Rooster Teeth also premiered a new teaser trailer for gen:LOCK in which David Tennant’s “Doc” talks about Cammie and Kazu Iida (voiced by Japanese Cowboy Bebop star Koichi Yamadera). Both Cammie and Kazu are characterized as unlikely candidates for the highly experimental gen:LOCK.

“Working with Maisie is as fun as it gets,” Haddock said in a statement. “I’m running out of superlatives to describe how perfect this cast works for the characters, but Maisie truly sounds exactly like how Cammie does in my head — she’s brilliant.”

Cammie MacCloud, the youngest recruit in the gen:LOCK program, will have Maisie Williams provide her voice in the new Rooster Teeth series.

In addition to the cast previously announced, Maisie Williams also joins Rooster Teeth talent Lindsay Jones (RWBY), Miles Luna, Blaine Gibson (Camp Camp), Chad James (DEATH BATTLE), and show runner Haddock as mech unit leader named Leon in the studio’s second anime-style production. In 2013, the studio premiered its original fantasy anime RWBY, which Rooster Teeth touts as a flagship franchise.

At RTX Austin in July, Haddock told members of the press that casting for the series has aided the writing process of the ambitious new series.

“It’s absolutely helped hearing or bearing in mind those actors’ voices and potential they might bring the part,” he said. “With the casting, I can finally hear the dialogue in the script as it was meant to be performed and what all these amazing talents are bringing to the part.”

gen:LOCK will premiere January 2019 on Rooster Teeth’s FIRST.
