'Avengers 4' Spoilers: Dave Bautista DGAF, Spoils Future of MCU on Live TV

These days, Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista is pretty upset about director James Gunn getting fired by Disney. Could that have had something to do with him dishing on some serious Avengers 4 spoilers Friday morning?

Bautista appeared on Good Morning Britain Friday to talk about his prolific career as a pro wrestler and action movie star. When the conversation inevitably turned to his role as Drax the Destroyer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he honestly explained that yes, the Guardians of the Galaxy would return in Avengers 4 and Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3 — all this despite every Guardian except Rocket Raccoon and Nebula dying at the hands of Thanos.

RIP Drax, who definitely died in 'Infinity War'.

“We definitely see more of the Guardians in the upcoming Avengers, which we’ve already shot,” Bautista said when asked about the future of the Guardians. “I guess I wasn’t supposed to say anything, but I was already saying before Avengers 3 was released that I had already filmed 4 and I was signed up for Guardians 3.”

Immediately after Avengers: Infinity War’s release in late April, Bautista was indeed already saying that he filmed scenes for Avengers 4. These days, he’s doubling down on previous comments. “I don’t know how it’s gonna pan out,” he admitted to Collider in May. “I thought I knew the ending of the second film, but apparently we’re supposed to reshoot a bunch of stuff. It’s so funny because I heard from other actors the script they read wasn’t at all what they made it to film.”

So who’s really fooling who here? At this point, nothing about Infinity War seems permanent.

Here's Drax laughing at Disney and Marvel Studios.

“I’ve shot scenes in [Avengers 4],” Bautista reaffirmed Friday morning, “so we must come back somehow.” Through some crazy sci-fi machination, the surviving Avengers must find a way to revive the trillions of people that died.

Whether it’s through Time Stone shenanigans or other temporal travel via the Quantum Realm, some kind of time travel is expected to play a huge part of Avengers 4. All things considered, it does look like Bautista’s Drax will reappear in some fashion for Avengers 4, but Guardians 3 seems much more uncertain these days.

The Hollywood Reporter announced that the Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3 production was officially put on hold earlier this August, so the fate of that adventure remains up in the air for the time being.

Avengers 4 will be released on May 3, 2019.
