Fortnite Rifts: Everything We Know About the Possible Return of Tomato Head

Things are about to get interesting.

Before the end of Fortnite: Battle Royale Season 4, the giant Tomato Head from Tomato Town and the big Durrr Burger disappeared into a Rift. The giant burger advertisement re-appeared in the California desert, and data miners found more evidence of when and where the Tomato Head will return.

Data miner FNBRLeaks on Saturday tweeted that an event will happen on Sunday in Fortnite: Battle Royale the below screenshot of a code snippet that shows the date of “2018-8-19” or Sunday, at “T18” or 6 p.m. Eastern.

The event is listed as “Oddity_Tomato_Tell,” which other data miners suggest is the return of the Tomato Head statue:

Another data miner CrossLeaks tweeted an image Saturday showing a Rift is beginning to form in Tomato Town on the same pedestal above Uncle Pete’s Pizza Pit where the giant Tomato Head disappeared.

Another data miner, Fortnitee_Leaks, found another Rift, but not in Fortnite: Battle Royale. Rather, the rift was found in the other mode featured in the game, Save the World. In this mode, there’s a pizzeria called Uncle Pete’s Pizza that has a giant clown head instead of a Tomato Head, and it’s there that another Rift appeared.

Last week, data miners found assets for the giant Tomato Head in the game’s date after the release of the v5.20 update. The original theory was that the sign, known in the code as “Tomato Statue,” would reappear in Haunted Hills and not its original location in Tomato Town.

With Rifts reappearing, not only does this mean something will appear at both locations, it also is a sign that the Fortnite: Battle Royale Season 5 story will start ramping up. So far, the season has been fairly uneventful, but with four weeks left, it appears Epic is preparing for the start of Season 6.

Fortnite: Battle Royale players can visit the pedestal in Tomato Town to see the Rift for themselves, and those who have access to Save the World can check out the rift clown head. On Sunday at 6 p.m. Eastern, something will most likely happen. However, as the case with most content found via data mining, things can change at any time.

The is new Rift could also be tied to an event supposedly happening on August 21, which data miners also found in the game’s code weeks ago.
