'Venom' Movie Spoilers: Woody Harrelson Basically Confirms Sequel's Villain

The second trailer for the Venom movie assuaged many fans’ fears that there wasn’t going to be much of the iconic black-and-white Venom costume in Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man spin-off, but actor Woody Harrelson just gave fuel to another theory that there will be more than one Symbiote. Just, maybe not in the first Venom movie.

Harrelson’s involvement with Venom had mostly been rumor until now, as back in February word started to circulate that the Solo: A Star Wars Story actor would play the serial killer Cletus Kasady, a.k.a the villain Carnage. Harrelson spoke with Collider for the Solo premiere, and he confirmed that he is in Venom, but don’t expect to see much of his character until the sequel.

“I’m in a little fraction of this movie, but I’ll be in the next one, you know?” Harrelson said. “So I haven’t read that script, but anyways, just rolled the dice.”

Harrelson couldn’t confirm who he was playing in Venom, saying “I thought it was under wraps that I’m even in the movie.”

Assuming that earlier rumors that Harrelson is playing Cletus Kasady — which doesn’t seem like a crazy assumption at this point — the actor’s latest quotes would seem to indicate that Kasady/Carnage won’t be the main villain of Venom. Instead, he’ll largely be set-up for the next film. For now, Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock is going to have to watch out for big bad Dr. Carlton Drake, as played by Riz Ahmed.
