‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Couldn't Cancel 'Agents of SHIELD's Sixth Season

Fans of certain TV shows experienced either heartbreak or relief in recent days as networks decided what series will come back for a new season and what shows will come to an end. Like in Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD had a 50-50 shot of surviving.

Marvel announced Monday that Agent Coulson and his team of SHIELD agents survived to return for a new season. Agents of SHIELD will have a Season 6 and appear once again on ABC. With the new season, the agents will have to deal with the events of Infinity War as well as another Marvel movie.

Since Thanos wiped out half of humanity, how will what affect the agents? The latest episodes of SHIELD mentioned an event happening in New York, likely referring to Thanos’ attack on Earth to find the Infinity Stones. SHIELD regularly crossed over with Marvel movies, but this particular event in Infinity War will have a big effect on the show similar Season 1, which crossed over with Captain America: Winter Soldier and saw Hydra infiltrate SHIELD. Season 5 has only one episode left, and it’s properly titled “The End.”

Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) will also play a role in another Marvel movie. In next year’s Captain Marvel, Coulson will make an appearance although he should appear a little younger since the film will take place in the 90s.

Season 5 of SHIELD will come to an end on Friday with the season finale titled “The End.” Fans will see if the agents will survive the Thanos’ snap, and who will be left for Season 6.

If SHIELD will include the events of Infinity War, another question Marvel fans have is how will the Netflix Marvel shows deal with the Thanos effect. There’s actually a good reason why the shows may not be affected at all.
