Elon Musk

It seems like Elon Musk is busy with his space rockets, electric cars, and flame throwers, but he’s able to manage his time by sticking to what’s important for his companies.

“Almost all of my time is spent on engineering and design,” he said.

Musk took part in a Q&A session at SXSW on Sunday. Hosted by Jonathan Nolan, who is a frequent collaborator with his brother Christopher Nolan, audience members asked Musk a variety of questions to learn more about the SpaceX CEO.

When asked about how he manages his time, Musk said his focus is solely on engineering and designing at his companies. He leaves the business of his companies to their respective chief business and operating officers.

For SpaceX, he tries create a place that works best for his team.

“My role is to make sure they have the environment where their talents can form,” he said. “I work with a great team.”

SpaceX had a busy February with the successful launch of the Falcon Heavy rocket, the most powerful operational rocket in the world. Musk has also seen an increase in interest for his latest electric car, the Tesla 3. Then in January, Musk made a killing selling flamethrowers.

Other topics brought up in the Q&A included the plan to test SpaceX’s interplanetary ship in early 2019, and his thoughts on how A.I. and humanity can coexist.
