‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ Is Worth it if Only For This Dope Lando Poster

Disney

As Han himself says in the first full trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story, “I thought we were in trouble there for a second but it’s fine. We’re fine.” Despite being dogged by a change of directors mid-stream and some bad buzz, the first look at the latest Star Wars prequel seems like it’ll be fine. However, everything we’ve seen of Donald Glover as young Lando Calrissian looks amazing, including a suave-ass poster Lucasfilm released on Monday.

In addition to the trailer and a shorter Super Bowl spot on Sunday night, there are now four illustrated posters for the upcoming summer movie. Donald Glover looks like a worthy successor to Billy Dee Williams’s Lando, and he’s clad in a flashy yellow shirt and high-collared blue cape that resembles Lando’s Cloud City duds in Empire Strikes Back.

Lando is holding a blaster in the poster, which could potentially complicate part of his backstory, as in the Marvel miniseries Lando, the swindler tries to convince people that he never carries a blaster. He does, of course, but the only time people would learn the truth is right before he shoots and kills ‘em. Lando’s blaster in the poster could just be cool poster art, or it could be a sign that the movie might not adhere to comics canon, which wouldn’t be surprising. Either way, Lando looks dope as hell.

In addition to Lando’s poster, Lucasfilm also shared three additional posters. Alden Ehrenreich continues to occupy an uncanny valley where he almost looks and acts like Harrison Ford, but not quite.

Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke plays the new character Qi’Ra, who shows that Laura Dern’s Last Jedi character Admiral Holdo isn’t the only person in the Star Wars galaxy with a great style and a purple color-scheme.

And finally, there’s Chewbacca, who looks like Chewbacca.
