Luke Boards the Millennium Falcon in World Series 'Last Jedi' Teaser

The high-stakes intensity of Game Seven of the World Series was interrupted on Wednesday night by another high-stakes showdown — only this time, it wasn’t the Dodgers versus the Astros. A new teaser for Star Wars: The Last Jedi begins with a dark echo of happier times and ends with what looks like a face-off between Rey and Luke Skywalker. Has somebody gone to the Dark Side?

The spot aired during a commercial break shortly before 10 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday, and it began with a shot of a haggard-looking Luke entering the Millennium Falcon’s cockpit. Unlike Han Solo and Chewbacca’s emotional entrance in that Force Awakens trailer, this isn’t a homecoming. Luke looks uneasy, and out-of-place. Just what happened to him? Remember all the good times that Luke, Han, Leia, and Chewie spent in the Falcon back during the original trilogy?

Maybe Luke has just been in isolation for so long that he’s forgotten what electricity looks like.

A lot of the rest of the footage is stuff we’ve seen before — with some notable exceptions. There’s more of the battle on Crait, including a shot of Finn in a cockpit, and a clear look at Snoke’s throne room.

“Darkness rises, and the Light to meet it,” Snoke says in a voiceover during the teaser.

The spot ends with Luke, looking defeated, saying “this won’t end the way you think.” Then there’s a shot of Rey, looking determined and scary, wielding a blue lightsaber in the rain. Unless there’s some trick editing happening, it looks like reluctant mentor and pupil might be traveling down different sides of the Force.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15.
