Brie Larson Reveals Her Fantasies About Hulk and Captain Marvel

Marvel Entertainment

Here’s a showdown for the ages: Captain Marvel vs. the Hulk. The fun mental image comes courtesy of actress Brie Larson, who will star as Carol Danvers in Marvel’s Captain Marvel in 2019. In a new interview, Larson revealed that she has “fantasies” of fighting the Hulk, perhaps the most iconic bruiser in all of superhero comics.

In an interview with USA Today to promote her newest movie The Glass Castle, Larson confessed that she dreams of playing Captain Marvel and having an on-screen battle with the Hulk, who is currently played by Mark Ruffalo. “I do kind of have fantasies of battling The Hulk, just because that’s like, it’s just visually so good,” she said.

Besides being a fun battle to witness, what’s extra interesting about the theoretical match-up is that Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has gone on record saying that Carol Danvers, as Captain Marvel, will be the strongest hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “If you had the collector cards of the Marvel characters and you could see the power levels, she would be off the charts compared to anyone that we’ve previously introduced in a film,” Feige said in an interview last year.

In the comics, Carol has rarely crossed fists with Bruce Banner. However, last year, in the midst of Civil War II, Danvers did let herself get played by Amadeus Cho, the new Totally Awesome Hulk, who was extremely salty about the death of his mentor and how Carol Danvers handled the whole situation.

It could be awhile before Captain Marvel even meets the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The next Avengers film — Infinity War — has been the source of conflicting rumors about Captain Marvel. Maybe she’ll be in it, maybe she won’t. Depends on who you ask.

The Hulk’s next appearance will be in Thor: Ragnarok on November 3.

Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8, 2019.
