Josh Brolin’s Transformation Into Cable for ‘Deadpool 2’ Begins

After spending the last several months in the gym getting swole, actor Josh Brolin is now also sporting a decidedly Cable-esque haircut, making his transformation into Deadpool’s time-traveling companion just about complete.

Josh Brolin was officially cast for the role of the mutant Cable in Deadpool 2 back in April, but over the weekend, the actor revealed his new look. Brolin reprised his role as Brand from The Goonies for an ‘80s-themed party and snapped a photo with his son.

With Deadpool 2 filming slated to begin in just a few weeks, it makes sense that finishing touches like a new haircut would happen right around this time. Very little is known about the plot of the film outside the casting that’s been announced, which also includes newcomer Zazie Beetz as Domino, and the return of characters like Brianna Hildebrand’s Negasonic Teenage Warhead and, of course, Ryan Reynolds as the titular Merc with a Mouth.

Now, all that’s left for Brolin to do is bleach his hair white, get a fake eye, and strap on a robot arm.

Keep in mind that in addition to the new haircut, Brolin has spent months in the gym bulking up for the role. Even Dave Bautista, Drax the Destroyer himself from Guardians of the Galaxy has been impressed by Brolin’s transformation.

Cable, aka Nathan Summers, is far from just the son of Cyclops and Jean Grey. He’s also a hulked out time-traveler and one of the most powerful psychics in the entire Marvel universe. He also carries an insanely big gun, which explains why Brolin needs some insanely big muscles — even if one of his arms will most likely be made out of metal.

Here he is, again on Instagram, with those aforementioned insanely big muscles:

Deadpool 2 is slated for a release date of June 1, 2018.
