‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' Teaser Is Obviously Dope AF
"You just need a woman who is pathetic like you. Do you need a hug?”
Our first Guardians Vol. 2 footage has been released, and holy shit, Baby Groot is wearing a little jacket. The teaser confirms that Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Baby Groot will deliver the same blend of laughs and action that made their first film a runaway hit.
This next Guardians of the Galaxy film will compound on the multidimensional work introduced in Doctor Strange and will expand the MCU to its outer reaches, probably in the same direction as Thor: Ragnarok. The first Guardians film is one of the few Marvel movies that makes direct reference to the Infinity Stones, which Thanos is currently tracking down. We’re still waiting to see the effect that Thanos will have on the entire Marvel Universe, but it will be amazing to watch it all unfold and come together.
The teaser obviously includes some dope action scenes. Rocket and Yondu seem to have developed into a killer duo. Gamora is the badass fighter that she was in the first movie, and Drax drops pearls of wisdom like no other life-form can, annoying Star-Lord in the process. It also seems like Gamora and Star-Lord are experiencing romantic troubles, because Drax tells Star-Lord he needs to find a woman who is “pathetic,” like him. The highlight of it all is obviously Baby Groot, who will surely be everybody’s favorite part of the new film. In the teaser’s final shot, he watches Rocket blast a hole through some dude, and seems a little nonplussed.
Notably absent from the teaser are Star-Lord’s biological father, the Living Planet, and Ayesha, the film’s central villain. Watch the entire teaser below, and check out the accompanying poster Marvel released.
