MCU

Here's the one epic Marvel movie you need to rewatch before Ms. Marvel

The MCU is about to add an important new character, but first, let's revisit one of the most exciting chapters in Marvel movie history.

Ms. Marvel marks an important first for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For the first time since the MCU began, the newest hero to join the franchise is a fan of the Avengers — just like us! If Kamala Khan lived in the real world, she’d probably have every single Marvel movie on Blu-ray.

And there’s one film in particular that both you and Kamala should be pulling off the shelf (or queuing up on Disney+) ahead of the Ms. Marvel premiere on June 7.

Ok, I’ll cut to the chase. The movie you should rewatch before Ms. Marvel is... Avengers: Endgame. Yes, I know you’ve almost definitely seen Endgame, and there’s a decent chance you’ve rewatched it recently. But there’s a very good reason to revisit this film in particular, and it has everything to do with Khan’s own superhero obsession.

Ever since Iron Man revealed his identity, the superheroes of the MCU have also been celebrities, but Avengers: Endgame was a tipping point. The Blip literally affected everyone on Earth, making the events of The Avengers and Age of Ultron look like minor threats by comparison. That’s how you get in-universe superfans like Kamala Khan and the MCU’s first-ever Avengers-Con, which Kamala attends in Ms. Marvel Episode 1.

The new series also answers a question we’ve been wondering about for a couple of years now: how does the general public know what happened in the final battle with Thanos? In WandaVision, characters like Darcy Lewis and Jimmy Woo debated the finer details of that fight as if they saw it themselves. I won’t spoil it, but Ms. Marvel finally reveals which Avenger spilled the beans.

Kamala isn’t just obsessed with the Avengers in general, she’s a fan of one in particular: Carol Danvers (aka, Captain Marvel). If you’re trying to remember why Danvers is such a big deal, Avengers: Endgame will remind you. Not only does she play a key role in the fight against Thanos, but she also helps keep the peace during the chaotic years of the Blip.

It’s no surprise Kamala Khan is obsessed with Captain Marvel (and the Avengers in general), but if you don’t quite get it, Avengers: Endgame will bring you back up to speed.
