Blending creativity, leadership, and vision to shape bold, original stories across animation and digital media.

For Art Director Juan Pablo Figueroa Casas, leadership is rooted in a lifelong commitment to creativity and storytelling. Throughout his award-winning career, Juan has shown how passion, persistence, and strategic leadership can forge an extraordinary path in visual storytelling.
He now works as CEO and Art Director for Drimgo Studio, where he leads a multidisciplinary team that tackles projects ranging from 2D and 3D animation to educational media, commercial production, video game development, and language localization for those projects. One of Drimgo’s most ambitious initiatives, developing a 2D animated feature film for adults with A-list Hollywood talent, reflects Juan’s commitment to pushing creative boundaries while maintaining operational excellence.
Innovation, Adaptability, And Lifelong Growth
Juan’s professional path began with formal education in graphic and advertising design at IES Siglo 21 University College. This was followed by specialized training in game design at Escuela de Game Design LA. These formative years shaped his understanding of visual communication, setting the stage for a career that seamlessly bridges artistic vision and commercial impact.
In 2005, Juan co-founded Ilusionario, an animation and illustration studio. The studio became a creative hub, collaborating with top advertising agencies across Latin America, the U.S., and Europe.
During this period, he successfully spearheaded work for top-tier clients. For these innovative projects, he soon garnered attention as a sought-after and versatile art director.
Pioneering Animation And Award-Winning Projects
Recognized as a thought leader in his profession, Juan is sought after for major creative roles in world-acclaimed productions. These have included the internationally-renowned animations, ‘The Braid of Time’ and ‘Back Home Again’. These creative works saw him showcasing the full scope of his skills, from illustration to art direction and production.
Says Juan: “One thing I’ve learned for certain: the way in which we carry out our work is non-negotiable. Creativity, excellence, meeting deadlines, and maintaining healthy, sustainable workflows come before anything else.”
He continues: “Another key part of my story has been surrounding myself with talented, warm, and genuine people. I truly believe that building strong, meaningful connections is the best marketing one can do. Your network is an endless source of opportunities.”
His mastery has extended to global advertising campaigns, winning prestigious awards in the process. He was a key contributor to the art direction and production of Michael Mankowski’s ‘Back Home Again’, helping to shape engaging and emotionally impactful stories. The animated feature earned widespread critical praise, and winning awards along the way.
Transition To Drimgo Studio And New Creative Ventures
In 2023, Juan Pablo took on the role of CEO at Drimgo Studio, where he expanded his portfolio into feature animation and emerging digital formats. Notably, he is working as an art director for an adult animated feature, a major production for studios in Los Angeles and Canada.
He has also led art direction for educational and branded projects, including a U.S.-based healthy eating platform, an animated story initiative, and NFT art development for international clients, among other notable projects.
From early illustrations to complex digital worlds, his work has continually evolved, pushing the boundaries of what animation and storytelling can achieve.
A Leadership Philosophy Grounded In Empowerment
Juan believes leadership is about connection, not control. His philosophy centers on empowering his team members, fostering a culture where each individual feels ownership, pride, and creative freedom.
Rather than dictating from above, Juan leads by example, supporting, mentoring, and inspiring his teams to achieve excellence. His hands-on experience across the entire production pipeline, from pre-production to interactive media, equips him to mentor others.
He says much of his inspiration has come from the incredible talent that surrounds him, which makes it possible to form solid, competitive teams. “I truly believe that working with others is far more powerful than creating in isolation,” he says. “The diversity of experiences, perspectives, and backgrounds enriches every project a hundredfold.”
Looking Ahead: Inspiring The Next Generation
Juan’s vision for the future is expansive. He dreams of establishing Drimgo Studio as a hallmark of creative excellence, where every project is instantly recognized for its innovation and impact.
He says he wants to continue to tell stories in a creative and visually compelling way, and he puts his success down to a deep curiosity to learn new things and a fearlessness when it comes to making mistakes.
He also envisions launching personal short films and feature projects that blend artistry and technology in groundbreaking ways. More importantly, he is committed to inspiring future generations to pursue their passions boldly.
Through leadership anchored in passion, vision, and collaboration, Juan Pablo Figueroa Casas wants to do more than just tell stories. He hopes to create a legacy that will inspire for years, including his own children.
“I believe leadership starts with oneself. It should be demonstrated through actions, not by simply telling others what to do. It’s about supporting your team, allowing each person to contribute with full commitment, giving them equal responsibility and involvement so they feel like key parts of the project, and ensuring everything is carried out in the best possible way,” he says.
