Marvel has a secret ingredient. Actor and martial artist Mark Dacascos has signed on to a “heavily recurring role” on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Deadline is reporting. Best known as the Chairman on Iron Chef America and Wo-Fat on Hawaii Five-O, Dacascos will play Giyera, the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. security on the season’s eighth episode, “Many Heads, One Tale.”

That’s kind of funny when you consider how many times S.H.I.E.L.D. has been infiltrated and broken into. When S.H.I.E.L.D. turned out to be almost full of HYDRA operatives, where was Giyera?

With Dacascos you can expect S.H.I.E.L.D. to get heavy on action. Dacascos is an acclaimed martial artist with training in muay thai, capoeira, wushu, and he’s an expert in Wun Hop Kuen Do. In 2010, Mark was the subject of a History Channel documentary that explored the modern samurai.

This won’t be Dacascos’ first time with superheroes either. In 2009, Dacascos starred in Kamen Rider Dragon Knight as Eubulon, an alien warrior who mentored the Kamen Riders, a team of elite armored superheroes.

“Many Heads, One Tale,” which alludes to the full return of Hydra in S.H.I.E.L.D., airs on November 17.
