Leaked 'Rise of Skywalker Visual Dictionary' may confirm some huge leaks

How are Kylo Ren and Rey connected to Palpatine's plan?

Lucasfilm

With the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker right around the corner, there’s still plenty we don’t know. Though director J.J. Abrams and the cast have dropped quite a few clues, most of the information they’ve revealed has been vague. However, alleged leaked images from the upcoming Rise of Skywalker Visual Dictionary seem to confirm a couple of the most widely reported rumors about Rey and Kylo Ren. Let’s dive in.

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

A few months back Making Star Wars reported that Emperor Palpatine would use Rey and Kylo Ren as a “dyad” to siphon off Force energy and rejuvenate himself to full power. After weakening them both, the Force energy would restore Palps to his Revenge of the Sith-era younger self.

Rey and Kylo join forces eventually, which is what Palpatine wanted all along.

One of the film’s trailers already seemed to support this leak, with Palpatine suggesting Kylo and Rey’s “coming together” would be their “undoing.” The Visual Dictionary* seems to reinforce that (via Reddit):

Snoke knew that Rey and Kylo were linked through the Force, a prophesized “dyad” connecting two individuals across space and time.

The book, written by Lucasfilm creative executive Pablo Hidalgo, references the dyad specifically when discussing her bond with Kylo Ren. The book is an official release from Lucasfilm, and though we know they will start off as enemies, it’s a safe bet that they team up at some point. It’s possible Kylo will lead Rey to where he first discovered Emperor Palpatine, and that’s when the villainous Sheev will use them both to regain power.

Kylo Ren will actually visit Exogol.

In addition, another MSW leak posited that Kylo, Rey, and Emperor Palpatine will have their final confrontation on the dead planet of Exegol. Supposedly, this is also where Kylo first meets Palpatine. With that in mind, the visual guide hints at why Palpatine may have chosen Exogol as his hideout and confirms that Kylo will indeed visit the planet on his journey.

The [guide]((https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsLeaks/comments/eb5k8r/small_tid_bit_from_the_rise_of_skywalker_visual/) also says Exogol is where Kylo learns he’s the “heir to a vast Empire waiting to be unleashed from the depths of the Unknown Regions.” While it’s unclear what prompts him and Rey to eventually work together, these leaks prove Palpatine is a much greater threat to the galaxy than even Kylo believed.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters December 20.
