‘Game of Thrones’ Season 8, Episode 4 Leaks May Reveal Cersei’s Battle Plan

by Jake Kleinman

With just three episodes remaining in Game of Thrones Season 8, we’re expecting at least one more big battle between the forces of good and Cersei Lannister. The final fight for the Iron Throne might not arrive in Episode 4 (Episode 5 seems more likely for a few different reasons), but thanks to some recent leaks, we may already know how Cersei plans to take on Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, and more importantly, the two remaining dragons.

Possible huge spoilers for Game of Thrones Season 8 below.

HBO has done an admirable job of keeping Game of Thrones Season 8 spoilers from spilling out (Episode 3 didn’t even leak early!), but the GoT experts who host the popular podcast A Storm of Spoilers seem to be one step ahead of the network. In the latest episode of the podcast, they laid down some pretty big GoT leaks that could reveal how Episode 4 (and the rest of the season) will play out. Here are five important details to know.

Before we dive in, it’s worth noting that while these spoilers are generally pretty reliable, A Storm of Spoilers did get one detail wrong last week when they predicted the Night King would win in Episode 3. So maybe take this with a grain of salt, though we’re inclined to believe these leaks are legit.

5. How to Kill Dany’s Dragons

According to podcast hosts Joanna Robinson (Vanity Fair), Neil Miller (Film School Rejects), and Dave Gonzales, Cersei’s big plan for the upcoming Battle of King’s Landing involves outfitting her castle with a bunch of huge ballistas similar to the Scorpion weapon used in Season 7 to wound Dany’s dragon. These oversized crossbows could be installed along the castle walls, giving Cersei a good chance to take out at least one of the remaining two dragons.

4. A Solidified Stark-Targaryen Alliance

According to the hosts, leaked footage from the second half of Game of Thrones Season 8 includes a sort of hybrid of the Stark and Targaryen sigils shown on a banner. This suggests that despite their recent issues, Dany and Jon may get married and merge their houses. Alternatively, maybe Jon will simply declare himself the one true Targaryen based on his bloodline and create a new house of Ice and Fire.

3. Jon’s New Mission

Dany might be headed to Dragonstone, but Jon Snow could be on a totally different mission. Other leaked footage apparently reveals that Jon will arrive in King’s Landing with two of his supporters (possibly including Davos). Assuming this happens, it seems likely he’ll be there to broker a peace with Cersei, though we have a feeling that probably won’t work.

2. Tyrion’s Big Finale

Moving beyond Season 8, Episode 4, the hosts of A Storm of Spoilers reveal that Tyrion Lannister will eventually burn down King’s Landing with wildfire and then get executed for his crimes. This spoiler, based on a leak from a very reliable Reddit user, claims that Tyrion does it to stop a White Walker invasion, though we’re not exactly clear on how that works given that all the White Walkers are now dead. So treat this one with suspicion.

1. Episode 6 Revealed

Finally, we learned that the last episode of Game of Thrones will feature a scene at the dragon pit (the same location where Dany met Cersei in the Season 7 finale). It’s unclear what exactly will happen, but apparently Lord Robin Arryn will be there, too. So maybe we’ll see all the leaders of Westeros converge to create some new sort of united Westeros government.

Will democracy finally come to Game of Thrones? It could happen, but not until our heroes deal with Cersei once and for all.

Game of Thrones Season 8 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. Eastern on HBO.
