One of the world’s biggest tech giants is banking on a master of suspense. M. Night Shyamalan, best known for thrillers like The Sixth Sense, Signs, and his Unbreakable superhero trilogy, is working on a new original series for Apple and its forthcoming streaming service Apple TV+.

What Is M. Night Shyamalan Working On?
Shyamalan is working on a new, original ten-episode “psychological thriller” for Apple. The news was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter in February 2019. Each episode is expected to last a half hour.
There are currently no titles or plot details we know about.
When Will Shyamalan’s Series Premiere?
There is no premiere date for Shyamalan’s newest series. However, Apple TV+ is set to launch this fall, so it’s possible the new show could arrive at around the same time.
Is There a Trailer for Shyamalan’s New Show?
Not yet, but Apple did offer a brief glimpse at the series during a montage featuring various original shows coming to Apple TV+ this fall or later.
What Is Shyamalan’s New Show About?
There are no details regarding the story of Shyamalan’s newest series. We know that it follows the story of a professional chef and his family.
Apple did play a short montage of clips, but it was difficult to parse which might come from this particular show. The company also invited several stars and showrunners on stage, but Shyamalan wasn’t included.

Who Is Starring in Shyamalan’s Newest Series?
Lauren Ambrose, who recently starred as “Agent Einstein” in The X-Files revival and played “Claire Fisher” in HBO’s Six Feet Under, is starring in the first episode of Shyamalan’s series as “Dorothy Turner.” Toby Kebbell, who starred as “Doctor Doom” in the 2015 Fantastic Four bomb, plays Dorothy’s husband Sean.
Nell Tiger Free, who played Myrcella Baratheon in episodes of HBO’s Game of Thrones, will star in the series as a character named “Leanne Grayson.”
Rupert Gint, who played “Ron Weasley” in the Harry Potter films, has a supporting role in the show. His casting was announced in November 2018 by Deadline.
Who Else Is Working on the Show?
The series is being produced by Blinding Edge Pictures. Some of the show’s executive staff include Taylor Lathan (LOL), Ashin Wajan (Split), producer Jason Blumenthal (The Equalizer), Todd Black, and Steve Tisch. Black is an Oscar-nominee for the 2016 film Fences, while Tisch won an Oscar for Forrest Gump.
Tony Basgallop, a BAFTA-nominated director, is writing the series with Shyamalan, who will direct the series’ first episode.
What Else to Know
This untitled series is not Shyamalan’s first foray in television. In 2015, Shyamalan co-produced Wayward Pines, a live-action adaptation of the horror/mystery novels written by Blake Crouch. He also directed the show’s first episode, which critics called “a return to form” for Shyamalan.
The series, which starred Matt Dillon, Carla Gugino, Toby Jones, and Shannyn Sossamon, lasted two seasons on Fox.
