'The Umbrella Academy' Season 2 Renewal All but Confirmed in New Report

The Umbrella Academy Season 1 has been quite the success and rather popular among Netflix users, but the series has yet to be renewed for Season 2. However, it’s looking more and more like that kind of announcement is inevitable. The latest news about the series suggests that Netflix is already planning for more episodes.

Spoilers for The Umbrella Academy Season 1 below.

Netflix is looking at filming locations for Season 2, ScreenRant reports, revealing that “residential properties, farms and farm houses, in rural Southern Ontario have received letters of interest in using the premises as a re-occurring location.”

This suggests that a renewal for The Umbrella Academy could be coming soon. Season 1 was released two and a half weeks ago, on February 15. Popularity doesn’t always guarantee a quick renewal. For example, The Haunting of Hill House was released in October, but Netflix only announced the series would be back as an anthology in February.

If Netflix is indeed looking at locations for Season 2, that is promising for the future of The Umbrella Academy.

ScreenRant also came up with several suggestions for those locations, including the backstory of Sir Reginald Hargreeves (the man who adopted the seven children), exploration of the 36 other babies born that same day, and the whereabouts of Hazel or Cha-Cha (if she somehow survived the apocalypse or simply shows up in the past via time travel).

In The Umbrella Academy Season 1, Number Five returned from the future to tell his siblings that the world was going to end. He then spent the season trying to find a way to fix the future, only to discover that the sister he thought didn’t have powers, Vanya, was actually the most powerful sibling of all, and was responsible for the apocalypse. In an effort to change the future (again), Number Five decided to travel through time, this time with his siblings, who turned to their younger selves before they disappeared.

That could be hinting at where and when they end up, and it’s possible these new locations could be involved. They could travel back in time to before Reginald had Allison use her powers to convince Vanya she didn’t have any abilities. Perhaps we’ll see more of where the siblings spent their childhood and maybe one of these new locations will somehow be involved. What if the siblings use one of these places as a base of operations after traveling through time, wherever they may be?

For now, we can only wait for an official announcement to find out about The Umbrella Academy Season 2.

The Umbrella Academy Season 1 is now streaming on Netflix.
