'Fortnite' Season 8 Week 1 Secret Battle Star: Location, Map, and Video
Discovery challenges have replaced Snowfall.
The Fortnite: Battle Royale Season 8 alternative to the ongoing Snowfall challenges just kicked off Thursday morning with the start of the new season. Dubbed “Discovery,” these challenges are a slight variation on previous similar tasks with the same end goal: a secret battle star.
Before, players would have to complete all seven challenges from a specific week to unlock a particular loading screen that included a special clue sending them to a secret location where they could claim a prize. The new process is just as convoluted and only slightly different.
Discovery challenges require players to complete all the challenges from any week to unlock the first loading screen and therefore access to that secret. The difference here hardly matters for the more hardcore players, but for anyone who waits until the end of the season to complete all their challenges and claim their prizes, the whole thing becomes just a little bit easier.
After visiting all the pirate camps, use volcano vents, visit giant faces and complete the other four challenges, you’ll unlock the following loading screen.

This features a middle-tier Blackheart pirate on the ship in a new named location called Lazy Lagoon just west of the volcano. (You can tell this by the color of the water.) This particular camera angle faces southeast from the front of the ship. The buildings on the shore, including the tower with the secret battle star on it, are on the eastern side of the area.

Here’s a map that will also help, but just go to the very top of the tallest building in the area to find the secret battle star.
Look for the tallest building in the main settlement area of Lazy Lagoon.
It’s still just the first day of Season 8, but know that the season is currently scheduled to end on Wednesday, May 8. So players have exactly 69 days left to complete at least one full week of challenges to gain access to this Discovery challenge. Nice.
