'Smash Bros. Ultimate' Tier List: 4 Characters Who Dominate at Tournaments

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is just a couple months old, but there’s already a booming tournament scene around the latest game in Nintendo’s fighting game franchise. If you’re wondering which characters in the game’s massive roster have performed best so far, well, you’re not alone. One fan even created a Smash Bros. Ultimate tier list, ranking the best and worst characters based on their performance in tournament play.
Compiled by a Smash fan going by the username CovertGhoul and turned into a video by YouTuber SmashCentralOfficial, the result is a pretty interesting ranking of Smash Bros. Ultimate’s characters. While it’s not a perfect tier list, it does provide some insight into which fighters are best and worst.
For one thing, the data comes from all Smash Bros. Ultimate tournaments that took place between January 5 and February 5 (excluding the high-profile Genesis event). It’s worth noting that a major update at the end of January introduced changes to many of the game’s characters, meaning the results from after that update likely differ from those before. Additionally, since this tier list is based ofonf which characters win the most tournaments, it’s possible to view it as a popularity ranking. However, as SmashCentralOfficial notes, the best characters will likely be the most popular by default.
Despite a few nitpicky issues, this may just be the most comprehensive tier list around. At the very least, it should tell you which characters are currently dominating at Smash Bros. Ultimate tournaments.
