'Avengers: Endgame' Spoilers: Costume Leak Hints at Black Widow Time Travel

New Avengers: Endgame costumes leaked Thursday night thanks to a Marvel promotion with Orville Redenbacher, and while most of the conversation focused on the Hulk’s new outfit, the biggest spoiler may come from another character entirely: Black Widow. A closer look at her updated style in Avengers: Endgame (according to this leak), suggests the Russian super-spy could play a key role in the movie’s rumored time travel plot line.

With just over two months to go, fans have been speculating over how the Avengers will defeat Thanos, and a popular theory is that time travel will somehow be involved. This stems from leaked set photos from the upcoming movie showing several heroes returning to the Battle of New York from the original movie, along with some cryptic time-related statements from Doctor Strange in Infinity War.

Here’s a set photo showing the Avengers returning to the Battle of New York (note the devices strapped to their hands):

Now take a closer look at Black Widow. Notice anything? On her hand? She’s wearing one of those same devices!

Redditor u/qwert1225 spotted the detail, suggesting that it could be a major Avengers: Endgame clue.

“The OG 6 Avengers along with Scott/Rocket go off [in] separate directions in different timelines by using the quantum realm to try to retrieve the stones from different [pasts] or a different reality entirely,” they write.

And that’s not all, her hair is also two different colors: the red we saw in her first appearances in the MCU and the blonde we saw in Infinity War and in the Endgame trailers. Could this hint to a return to a time previously seen in the MCU?

Of course, it’s possible that Black Widow simply lets her hair grow out in the time between Infinity War and Endgame. She probably has bigger things to worry about that maintaining her hairdo after Thanos wiped out half of the population. In that case, we can assume that about two years have passed in the time gap between the two movies.

It’s also possible that those devices aren’t connected to time travel at all. Instead, they might have something to do with B.A.R.F., Tony Stark’s augmented reality technology, which was also spotted on the Avengers: Endgame set after being introduced at the start of Captain America: Civil War.

Regardless, it seems pretty clear that Black Widow will play a major role in whatever reality-bending plot the Avengers cook up to defeat Thanos in Endgame. That’s assuming these leaked costumes are real, of course, but considering how quickly Orville Redenbacher pulled that image from its website, we have a feeling there’s something to this.

Avengers: Endgame will be released on April 26.
