'Avengers 4: Endgame' Spoilers: Leak Reveals a New MCU Hero Could Be Key

Avengers: Endgame is expected to feature some degree of time travel and multiverse hopping as the remaining heroes work to undo the Decimation that wiped out half the population in Infinity War. Until now, our best explanation for how this will work has involved a mixture of the words “Quantum Realm” and “Time Stone,” but a new rumor may reveal the unexpected character who could help lead the Avengers in their fight against Thanos. (No, it’s not Erik Selvig, but that theory — explained in the video above — is pretty compelling too.)

This rumor comes from MCU Cosmic founder Jeremy Conrad, who recently tweeted a cryptic clue about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, revealing that the studio already has plans to bring the comic book character Black Knight into future movies.

“There’s been some hinting and talk about Black Knight recently,” he wrote. “Apparently Marvel does have a plan for him in the MCU, and they already know how he’ll be introduced.”

The tweet was accompanied by a well-known screenshot from Ant-Man and the Wasp showing the Quantum Realm and what many fans believe is a city skyline within that sub-atomic world.

The implication seems to be that Black Knight is hiding in this Quantum Realm city and will turn up soon. Considering that Avengers: Endgame is expected to lean heavily on the pseudo-science of the Quantum Realm, it seems possible the Black Knight could play a significant role. Maybe he even helps Ant-Man escape at the beginning of the new movie.

There have been several different versions of Black Knight in Marvel’s comic book history, but the version Conrad is referring to is likely Dane Whitman, a superhero and sometimes member of the Avengers with the ability to travel through the multiverse. This version of Black Knight could be exactly who the Avengers need if they plan to take on Thanos and undo the Decimation.

Then again, it’s possible we’re reading a little too far into a single cryptic tweet, but if Avengers: Endgame really does plan to dive headfirst into Quantum Realm weirdness then Black Knight would be a good character to bring along for the ride.
