'Fortnite' Season 7 Teaser Looks Like a 'World of Warcraft' Crossover

Is that the Lich King? Or another icy warlord?

The Fortnite: Battle Royale Season 7 teasers have begun as the iceberg drifts closer and closer to the island for the end of Season 6, and one thing’s for sure: It’s no Santa Claus that’s coming to town. Instead, the first teaser shows some kind of demonic ice demon that looks just like the Lich King from World of Warcraft.

Epic Games tweeted out the first character teaser for Season 7 on Monday morning, making it seem like some icy warlord is bringing an entire blizzard to the game. The shadowy figure has a Medieval-style helmet made of ice, and there’s even a small character skiing down a slope to the right of the image. (Could that tease snow covering the entire map?)

The tweet also offers the first confirmation that Season 7 begins on December 6 after Season 6 ends earlier that same day. That comes as a bit of a surprise since Fortnite often delays the end of each season by a day or two so players have more time to complete any remaining challenges.

We haven’t seen this new character just yet, be he almost definitely has something to do with the iceberg that’s been approaching the island for some time. Perhaps he lives in the castle that can be seen at the top of the iceberg?

The overall design of this new character looks like something out of Lord of the Rings or another fantasy universe reminiscent of Medieval-era armor.

He bears perhaps the most striking resemblance to the Lich King from World of Warcraft, a character whose backstory is remarkably similar to that of the Night King from Game of Thrones. They’re both undead, magical, ice-themed villains.

In the past, Epic has teased the start of each new season with character posters. Season 4 had its superhero teaser posters. Season 5 teased the Drift cat mask and interdimensional rift portals. And Season 6 teased the Purple Cube and frightful Fortnitemares outfits.

We can probably expect Epic to release more teasers just like this one each morning over the next several days, as that’s what the developer does every week leading into a new season.

For Fortnite Season 7, it looks like this icy warlord is bringing winter with him.

Fortnite Season 7 is scheduled to begin sometime on Thursday, December 6.
