'American Horror Story' Season 8 Spoilers, Recap: Will Coven Kill Michael?
It’s the moment American Horror Story fans have all been waiting for. In Episode 3 of Season 8 Apocalypse, the Coven finally returned, and they’ve already got beef with another major character.
Warning: American Horror Story Season 8 Episode 3 spoilers ahead.
Just as predicted by many fans (not to mention, yours truly), a few of the witches from the Coven season of AHS showed up at the end of Season 8 Episode 3, and it already looks like there’s going to be a major showdown between the witches and Michael Langdon — the Antichrist figure who just showed up this season.
Cordelia Goode, Madison Montgomery, and Myrtle Snow all arrived at the containment facility at the end of the episode after Venable and Mead killed off most of the residents of the outpost. Cordelia took one look at the place and told her fellow witches, “Find our sisters,” who turned out to be Coco, Mallory, and Dinah.
Just one problem: they’re all dead when the witches arrive. So Cordelia resurrects them (no big deal, right?). Then Madison walks up to Mallory and says, “Surprise bitch. I bet you thought you’d seen the last of me” in a callback to her appearance in Coven all those AHS seasons ago.
It appears that most of the cast of the first few episodes of American Horror Story: Apocalypse is gone. Sarah Paulson’s character, Venable, was killed by Mead, the android she thought was her loyal companion. But within minutes, she was back as Cordelia. And it looks like she and the other witches are now in place for a showdown with Michael.
A promo for American Horror Story Season 8 Episode 4 almost entirely devoted to the Coven witches and Michael Langdon makes it seem like they’re going head-to-head. So, are the witches going to kill Michael?
On the one hand, Michael seems like the Big Bad this season. After the weird bloody ritual he performed on the third episode of Apocalypse, it certainly seems like he has a direct line to Satan. And anyone who’s a servant of the Devil, and who is possibly the Antichrist, should logically be pretty difficult to kill.
But we know the Coven witches are tough. Cordelia just resurrected three dead people like it’s something she does every day. So there’s a chance their combined power could take on even the evilest of beings.
Plus, no one is ever safe on American Horror Story. The show is pretty notorious for offing people you really thought would make it to the end of the season. “Honestly, with everyone dead, it was classic AHS,” Redditor losbrillos concurred in a post-episode discussion thread.
Who knows? Maybe even Michael could be killed by the Coven, only for there to be another villain waiting in the wings to wreak havoc for the rest of the season. Truly, anything can happen on American Horror Story.
American Horror Story airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on FX.
