If you stuck around through the end of The First Purge you may have caught its final after-credits surprise: a teaser for The Purge television series, which is airing on USA Network this fall. The teaser follows the previously released trailer for the 10-episode miniseries that dropped last week.

The Purge TV Show Plot and Release Date

Based on what we’ve seen so far, The Purge miniseries appears to follow a handful of characters in the days leading up to a yearly purge. Here’s the official synopsis with a bit more info:

Set in an altered America ruled by a totalitarian political party, the series follows several seemingly unrelated characters living in a small city. As the clock winds down, each character is forced to reckon with their past as they discover how far they will go to survive the night.

Inverse visited the set of The Purge last week to learn more about the show and teased out on-set images with a few more clues:

The Purge premieres September 4 at 10 p.m. Eastern on USA Network. After that, you can expect nine more episodes, presumably at a rate of one per week.

The Purge TV Show Cast

The new series stars Gabriel Chavarria and Jessica Garza, who will appear in all 10 episodes according to IMDB. Other featured actors include Lili Simmons (True Detective, Banshee), Colin Woodell (Unfriended: Dark Web), and Amanda Warren (Black Mirror, The Leftovers, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri).

Behind the scenes, Purge franchise creator James DeMonaco is involved as a writer and executive producer. Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum is also attached as executive producer. The first episode will also be directed by Anthony Hemingway, who’s previously directed episodes of The Wire, American Crime Story, and Orange Is the New Black.
