‘Fortnite’ Blitz Showdown Rewards: How to Win Free V-Bucks This Weekend

It won't be easy, but the rewards are pretty great.

Epic Games

Epic Games is back with another limited-time competitive mode for Fortnite. Starting today and running through through the weekend, you can win some free V-Bucks (the in-game currency used to buy skins and other cosmetic items) in the new Blitz Showdown mode. Here’s everything you need to know about the latest competition and the rewards that come with it.

Fortnite Blitz Showdown: How it works

Similar to the previous Solo Showdown, your goal here is to score as many points as possible between now and Monday, June 4th at 10 a.m. Eastern. Like last time, points are based on how long you last in each match, but in Blitz Showdown eliminations also count towards your final score (three points per kill to be exact).

You’ll also need to complete 25 matches to qualify (down from 50 matches in Solo Showdown). To make things a little easier, Epic Games is also breaking the competition down by region, instead of grouping everyone in one big pot. For even more info, check out the full scoring breakdown here.

Fortnite Blitz Showdown: The rewards

Now for the important stuff: the rewards. Just like before, Epic Games is doling out V-Bucks for anyone skilled enough to place. 1st place gets 20,000 V-Bucks, 2nd-5th place gets 13,500 V-Bucks, and 6th - 100th place get 7,500 V-Bucks. That’s down slightly from the Solo Showdown rewards, but it’s still nothing to sneeze at. After all, the company typically sells its currency at a rate of $10 per 1000 V-Bucks.

Of course, the chances of actually winning any reward at all against million of other players are pretty slim, but it’s still worth a shot right? And if you can’t commit to 25 matches by Monday morning don’t worry, Epic says there are plenty more Showdown competitions coming in the future.
