'Avengers: Infinity War' Poster Has an Eye-Opening Mistake on It

Marvel

Trailers for Thor: Ragnarok tricked Marvel fans by showing glimpses of a scene where Thor, crackling with electricity, has both his eyes. He actually loses an eye in his final showdown with Hela, but the trailers altered the clip to avoid spoiling the ending. Now, the new poster for Avengers: Infinity War is either also doing some eye-related subterfuge, or somebody made a Photoshop mistake. Our money’s on the latter.

Reddit user WednesdayStudios noticed the mistake in the poster, which Marvel released on Friday alongside the final Infinity War trailer. In a post on Monday, WednesdayStudios pointed out that the scar Thor gained when Hela scratched out his eye is over his good eye instead of the one with the eyepatch. To illustrate the point, the redditor compared Thor on the Infinity War poster to a shot of Thor at the end of Ragnarok, along with two Thor action figures.

In those three pictures, Thor’s big scar is over his missing eye, which makes sense. In the poster, it’s over his good eye, which, uh, does not make sense.

Some toys would seem to suggest Thor gets his eye back at some point in Infinity War, though it’s certainly possible that those toys are not canon. Even so, if Thor were to regain the missing eye, he’d still have the scar on that eye.

Thor’s wandering scar is likely just a Photoshop mistake rather than any Earth-shattering revelation that will change the Marvel Cinematic Universe forever. But, as far as mistakes on posters go, a misplaced scar is nothing compared to a giraffe-like neck or a freakishly long leg.

Bad posters, gang.
