'Infinity War' Marathon: These Are the 12 Marvel Movies AMC Will Play

Marvel Entertainment

The impending arrival of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War is the culmination of the last ten years of Marvel cinema history. For those hoping to catch up before Infinity War hits theaters on April 27, theatre chain AMC has you covered with a 12-movie marathon of the essential MCU movies.

On Friday, days after AMC originally announced it would sell tickets to a 31-hour marathon of Marvel movies, The Hollywood Reporter revealed the list of the 12 Marvel movies, which will be screened back-to-back only at two AMC theaters in Orlando and New York City. (Sorry, rest of the world.)

Tickets for what AMC dubbed the “Infinity War Marathon” will sell for $75 a pop. For those willing to endure the 31-hour extravaganza, here are the movies:

Iron Man (2008)

The Incredible Hulk (2008)

Thor (2011)

Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)

Marvel’s The Avengers (2012)

Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)

Captain America: Civil War (2016)

Doctor Strange (2016)

Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)

Black Panther (2018)

Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

So, not what we expected! The omission of Iron Man 2, and Thor: The Dark World, the weakest of the cinematic entries, make sense. The inclusion of the Edward Norton-starring Hulk, well, does not. (Although the mediocre Thor sequel did do a lot to set up the Infinity Stones.)

This marathon is relatively grim in tone, considering that it also excludes Ant-Man, Thor: Ragnarok, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which altogether make up the funniest films the MCU has to offer.

But no sin is greater than leaving out 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Not only was it the first crack at the MCU by Joe and Anthony Russo, who are now directing the namesake movie of this marathon, but it’s also an integral chapter to Captain America’s arc. With fans betting that Steve Rogers will die in Infinity War, leaving out one of his most revelatory episodes is a major head-scratcher.

The marathon will begin April 25, two days before the premiere of Avengers: Infinity War, at 1:30 p.m. It will be held at AMC Empire 25 in New York and AMC Disney Springs 24 in Orlando.

Avengers: Infinity War will be released in theaters on April 27.
