'Star Trek: Discovery' Will Bring Back Michelle Yeoh, Producer Says

by James Grebey

The Star Trek: Discovery panel at New York Comic Con featured a surprise guest, but actress Michelle Yeoh’s unexpected appearance soon gave way to an even bigger bombshell. According to one of the show’s executive producers, we haven’t seen the last of Yeoh on Discovery, even though her character, Captain Georgiou, died in the second episode.

The panel, which was held at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, featured most of the main cast, including Sonequa Martin-Green (Michael Burnham) and Doug Jones (Saru). Yeoh, who had not been scheduled to appear, posed as a fan in a mask asking a question before revealing herself.

“I’m telling you, Captain Gabriel Lorca,” she joked to actor Jason Isaacs, “if you don’t look after my baby girl I’m going to kick your ass.”

The hint that Yeoh would be returning came from executive producer Gretchen J. Berg.

“You will see more of this woman on the show,” she said.

An early look at the rest of the season revealed that Burnham will continue to be haunted by the death of her former captain, so it’s possible that Yeoh will reappear in a flashback or dream sequence. But, then again, this is science fiction, so even stranger things can happen.

New episodes of Star Trek: Discovery drop on Sundays at 8:30 p.m. Eastern on CBS All Acess.
