'Avengers 4' Will Definitely Feature This 'Guardians 2' Hero

Marvel Studios

Yet another hero is set to survive the potentially deadly events of Infinity War.

On Thursday, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 star Pom Klementieff took to Facebook to post a photo showing her return to the makeup trailer to play Mantis once again. In the photo’s caption, the actress used the hashtag “#AvengersInfinityWar,” but with the third Avengers film having finished principal photography in July, and Avengers 4 currently filming in Atlanta, Georgia, it seems more likely that she’s there for the Infinity War sequel.

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn said in a Facebook Live session on August 22 that the third Guardians film, which will take place after the next two Avengers movies, “will be the last movie of this version of Guardians of the Galaxy,” so it already seemed like most if not all of the current lineup would make it through Infinity War. But still, if Klementieff isn’t simply there for Avengers 3 reshoots, it’s a shame that we already know her character’s fate.

Interestingly, we seemingly already know several characters who will make it through Infinity War, which seems like a big departure from Marvel’s usual secrecy regarding spoilers in their movies. Perhaps it won’t matter that we know a few characters who aren’t going to die, as the characters that do are big ones. Or maybe Marvel’s gotten extra savvy, and the actors dropping these hints at their returns are big misdirects.

If that’s not the case, though, it seems like “who lives and dies in *Infinity War” is a question that’ll mostly get answered by the time the film comes out.

Avengers: Infinity War is supposed to premiere in the U.S. on May 4, 2018. The untitled Avengers 4 is scheduled to come out on May 3, 2019.
