Henry Cavill Hints Green Lantern Will Be in 'Justice League'

Warner Bros., DC Comics

Superman is indestructible, but actor Henry Cavill has been training hard to recover from a knee injury he suffered months ago over the winter holidays. In a new Instagram post uploaded on Tuesday, Cavill assures his fans he’s almost back to full health amidst training his butt of steel off. That’s when he gleefully teases another would-be Justice Leaguer: Green Lantern.

On Instagram, Cavill posted a picture of himself at the gym, wearing a tank top in Superman’s signature blue with a beanie (so, he’s one of those guys). In the post, Cavill writes: “Since I came off the ol knee injury I’ve been steadily increasing my training work load. I know it’s irritating when people say this but it genuinely does feel so good to be back in it. I’m not destroying myself every day. Just working towards improvement by pushing hard enough to elicit change.”

Then, he adds: “Nothing funny to post here, it’s deadly serious because I’ve got to make sure that I’m bigger than Green Lantern….Wait whaaat?”

The tease is just the latest reference to the rumors that Green Lantern — in some form — will show up in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, scheduled to hit theaters on November 17. A new Green Lantern movie within the DC Extended Universe is definitely happening, but whether or not the human Green Lanterns of Earth cameo in Justice League is unknown. Armie Hammer, whom Cavill played opposite in the underrated The Man from U.N.C.L.E., has been a popular frontrunner for one of the film’s two lead roles. Hammer himself played with the rumors in an A+ level troll back in October.

Justice League will be released on November 17.
