What Mess Will Jeri Hogarth Get Danny Out of 'Iron Fist'?

Netflix

Get ready for Jeri Hogarth in Marvel’s Iron Fist. Executive producer Scott Buck confirmed during New York Comic Con that Carrie-Anne Moss will reprise her cutthroat lawyer in Iron Fist, cementing the series as the final boost into the 2017 crossover The Defenders.

“She has an extremely important role in Dannys life,” Buck said at New York Comic Con. “I can’t really reveal anything about it, unfortunately, but she’s very involved in our story and Danny’s journey.”

What could an orphan heir with sick kung fu skills need a lawyer for? Besides maybe being a friend of Rand patriarch Wendell like Jeri was in the comics, there are several other possibilities. As is standard in the “stranded superhero comes home to fight crime” like in Batman Begins and Arrow, these guys could use some legal help to win back their rightful inheritances: multi-million dollar empires.

The Waynes have Wayne Enterprises, the Queens have Queen Consolidated, and the Rands have the Rand Corporation. With Danny back from K’un-Lun after being presumed dead, it’s likely he seeks the help of Jeri Hogarth to help him get his money back.

She could also be the executor of the Rands’ will. Still, that just means she helps Danny get his cash back, allowing him to get a nice spandex costume. You won’t believe what it costs in dry cleaning.

Marvel’s Jeph Loeb also chimed in, adding the dynamic between the two will be a huge contrast. “Danny has … a hopeful optimism about him, and [Jeri actress] Carrie-Anne obviously lives in a different kind of world, and so being able to see those two worlds collide is just the beginning of the many obstacles that he goes through.”

Marvel’s Iron Fist premieres March 17, 2017.
