The Wasp Will Officially Fly Onto the Scene in 'Avengers 4'

Screen Rant

The Wasp is always sure to have a place alongside Scott Lang’s Ant-Man, but Hope van Dyne herself, Evangeline Lilly, revealed that she’ll be flying with Iron Man, Thor, and the rest of the Avengers as well.

While in interviews for New York Comic Con over the weekend, Lilly said she’ll be taking part in the second half of the Avengers: Infinity War story arc. And this time she’ll finally be able to put her skills to good use.

“There’s an Avengers series coming out, its a two-parter,” Lilly told blastr. “The Wasp won’t be in the first part, she’ll be in the second part, because they really want to preserve that reveal for Ant-Man and the Wasp.”

Ant-Man and the Wasp is Marvel’s 2018 sequel to Ant-Man, which will finally introduce the Wasp as a real character within the MCU rather than “teasing” her (such as in the after credits scene of Ant-Man). Hope will undoubtedly not only kick Scott’s butt again, but the butts of bad guys everywhere too.

In 2013, Marvel.com rated the Wasp as the fifth greatest Avenger of all time. And yet, we’ve really seen nothing of her in the films so far (other than a brief look into Hope’s mother, Janet van Dyne, as the Wasp). Hope’s just been teaching helpless Scott how to be a superhero and then getting none of the credit.

But in Marvel’s comics, the Wasp has been pretty busy as of late. (Granted, the Wasp’s suit is still occupied by Janet van Dyne, but still.) She’s been privately funding the Avengers, traveling to different universes, having a relationship with Alex Summers’s Havoc — who we’ve seen in the X-Men films — and taking on both Red Skull and Ultron. She’s been busier than any of the Avengers in the MCU.

She’s going to fit in just fine when Part 2 of Infinity Wars comes along in 2019. Until then, look forward to seeing more of Hope in Ant-Man and the Wasp in 2018.
