The Next 'Game of Thrones' Episode Description Hints At Cleganebowl

The description for Season 6 episode 8, "No One," is out, and in it might be a reference to the best 'Game of Thrones' fan theory.

HBO

Between Sandor Clegane’s return as a living person, Benjen Stark’s return as a mostly dead person, and Jon Snow’s return as a very sad person with lots of stab wounds, Season 6 of Game of Thrones has been working fan theories like they’re Podrick working a brothel.

But the best fan theory that has yet to be addressed is Cleganebowl, the theory that The Mountain and The Hound will face off in a trial by combat, with The Hound fighting for The Faith and The Mountain fighting for Cersei. It has its own subreddit and several fan-made trailers:

So why does the next episode, which will be called “No One,” hint at it? Behold the description:

While Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) weighs his options, Cersei (Lena Headey) answers a request. Tyrion’s (Peter Dinklage) plans bear fruit. Arya (Maisie Williams) faces a new test.

The key line is “Cersei answers a request.” As we saw from Lady Olenna’s takedown in the last episode, Cersei no longer has any allies. Her family has left her and she’s surrounded by people who hate her. Except, of course, for The Mountain’s terrifying reanimated corpse.

As the season winds down, Cersei’s plot line will revolve around her trial by combat. She has The Mountain; The Hound is now back. Will Cleganebowl happen? It’s hard to say for sure, but what is hype will never die. It is known.
