The Stormtrooper Gun From a 'Force Awakens' Trailer Drove the Internet Nuts

Those chomping at the bit for the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens have been tempted with a few speculative, frothy, clues as to what new director J.J.Abrams has in store for the franchise.
Not all of the stormtroopers fighting for Emperor J.J. Abrams in Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be using the traditional imperial blasters. A new trailer released last night (amid the weirdness that is Empire) shows a white-suit wearing fighter wielding a new, two-pronged, electrified mystery-gizmo while taking on new protagonist Finn.
It’s logical to assume that we’ll see plenty of the new contraption in fight scenes throughout the film:
The new, purple-tinged, electric weapon has further excited an already very excited audience eager to know more about the film’s main characters, their motivations, and, yes, their weaponry.
In keeping with a general trend, Twitter seized upon the weapon and lost what little collective mind it had left, echoing its own enthusiasm ad infinitum.
