Fortnite-Major Lazer Collab Has Dope Tracks, a Cool Skin, and Little Else
Fortnite: Battle Royale just launched its next big musical collaboration with Major Lazer Thursday. Not only do the exclusive tracks totally slap, but it has some of the coolest cosmetics we’ve seen from this type of cross-promotion. Sadly, don’t expect anything on par with that epic in-game Marshmello concert just yet.
Fortnite has partnered with Major Lazer, an electronic music group that includes Diplo, Walshy Fire, and Ape Drums to furnish the world of Fortnite with a bunch of fun themed items.
Epic Games first teased the collaboration on Wednesday night, writing that Major Lazer was “crashing the shop” in a way that features “a new look, new movies, and new beats!” In translation, the limited-time team up will offer players the chance to purchase a cool-looking Major Lazer outfit, a golden back bling and pickaxe, two songs, and two emotes.
The items launched in the shop Thursday evening, right around the same time that FaZe Clan Fortnite pro Daniel “Dubs” Walsh live-streamed some matches with all of Major Lazer.
It seems like that might be the extent of the Fortnite collaboration with Major Lazer, unless there are more surprises in store for us over the next few days. All of the items might disappear from the shop with the daily reset at 5 p.m. Eastern on August 23 — or they might not. There’s a Major Lazer Bundle that includes all seven of the cosmetic items at a discounted price of 2,325 V-Bucks, roughly $23.25 or less, depending on how many V-Bucks you buy in bulk.
As far as collaboration outfits go, this one’s way better than the Marvel Black Widow outfit, and it might even be a little bit cooler than the Stranger Things Demogorgon outfit. The best part of the Major Lazer set, however, is obviously the dope tracks. The two Lazerism remixes are called “Default Vibe” and “Default Fire.” If you spend any money on this, drop the 400 V-Bucks just to have both of these, then it’ll really spice up your lobby browsing in between matches.
Here’s one of the tracks available for purchase right now:
