Mindhunter Season 2 is set to hit Netflix sometime in August, but we still don’t have a specific release date. However, a new leak spotted by fans of the show may reveal plans for a marketing push that could begin later this month, meaning a Mindhunter Season 2 release date reveal may be just weeks (or even days) away.
The latest Mindhunter leak comes filmmaker and photographer Miles Crist, who worked on Season 2 and shared some revealing details in his online bio, which was then spotted by a fan of the series who reshared it on Reddit.
Here’s the quote in question:
For the past year, I’ve worked for David Fincher on his Netflix show Mindhunter, shooting, editing, and color grading still and motion imagery for social media. This work will be released in June as part of the marketing campaign to promote the second season.
The big reveal here is that the marketing campaign for Mindhunter Season 2 will begin in June. That means we could see teasers and even a full-length trailer sometime this month. We might also get a release date, which is actually somewhat uncommon for Netflix. The company typically doesn’t reveal exactly when new shows will arrive until just one month earlier (if that), but considering the excitement over the David Fincher show’s return, it makes sense that the news would come a bit sooner.
In the meantime, Crist also shared a video showing the faces of various background actors from Mindhunter Season 2. It doesn’t reveal much, though it does highlight the diversity of the new episodes compared to Season 1. You can watch that here.
Mindhunter Season 2 is set to feature a handful of additional killers as the show expands into new territory. That includes Charles Manson, Son of Sam, and the Atlanta Child murderers. Ed Kemper (Cameron Britton) may also return after his breakout performance in Season 1. In an interview with Inverse, the actor declined to say whether he’d filmed any new scene, but with a trailer potentially dropping this month, we could know the truth very soon.
Mindhunter Season 2 premieres this August on Netflix.
