'Avengers: Endgame' Digest Hints at Big Task for Captain Marvel and Ant-Man

With the release date drawing near, a new Avengers: Endgame synopsis hints at the roles Captain Marvel and Ant-Man might play.

With so many characters set to appear in Endgame, the latest plot summary makes it a point to single out Captain Marvel and Ant-Man’s involvement as being important in defeating Thanos.

Atom Tickets has released a more spoilery synopsis for Endgame. While the Avengers tried their hardest to thwart Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, they didn’t know his plans included wiping out half of Earth’s population.

What the team didn’t have in Infinity War, however, were Captain Marvel and Ant-Man. Captain Marvel’s mid-credits scene confirmed she’ll be joining the team and we’ve already seen Ant-Man in the Endgame trailer.

The fact that the summary highlighted their abilities means that they’ll most likely have bigger and more important roles than any of the other characters.

Here’s the full digest of the plot of Avengers: Endgame released by Atom Tickets:

“Thanos snapped his fingers in Avengers: Infinity War, and half the life in the universe instantly dissolved. Now a ragged group of surviving warriors, including Captain America, Black Widow, Iron Man, Thor, and the Hulk works to counteract the Mad Titan’s genocidal action.
Since our heroes couldn’t stop Thanos the first time, what makes them think they can win in a rematch? The answer may be in overwhelming power, thanks to Captain Marvel, or in the tiniest spaces between atoms accessible to Ant-Man. Avengers: Endgame will rewrite the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it. When it’s all over, nothing will be the same.”

Paul Rudd has already confirmed that the Quantum Realm is not only important to Endgame, but to the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe moving forward.

The Quantum Realm could play a part in rewriting the MCU, especially since Ant-Man and the Wasp confirmed it could open doors to different universes. Could the next phase of the MCU take place in another realm? It’s uncertain, but Ant-Man’s abilities and presence inside the Quantum Realm could be a game changer for the Avengers.

Captain Marvel has proven to be one of the most powerful superheroes in the MCU, so lending her help to the Avengers will do a lot of good. Her powers might just be the answer come time for a rematch with Thanos.

Though other characters, like the Guardians of the Galaxy, are able to travel through space, she can do so without a ship and in Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers showed off her immense power by single-handedly taking down missiles and carrying a ship through space. Thanos should be very afraid.

The plot synopsis also makes note of the MCU being rewritten post-Endgame. Does that mean the movie will end with the Avengers in another realm?

Since we know that time travel is involved, could it mean permanent changes to the timeline? Anything is possible. So long as the final showdown with Thanos involves Captain Marvel and Ant-Man fighting alongside the Avengers, there’s still hope.

Avengers: Endgame hits theaters April 26, 2019.
